THE ART OF MUSIC

THE ART OF MUSIC

By: Christian Voltar Alcala aka The Guitar Saint

Last Saturday, April 25, 2009 we had an opening show of my art exhibit, THE ALCALA LEGACY MILESTONE OF THE MASTER in Vallejo with several guest musicians from California.

It was one of the exciting art exhibits that I had and I must say, one of the best. Refreshments and lumpias were provided by the best chef in the world, my mom.

The artistic event started with the original songs of TANYA - a pop-jazz singer, songwriter, keyboardist from Benicia, CA showing her syncopated musical vocals and jazzed up songs followed by abstract musician METAZEN of Napa, CA, rapping his mind-boggling lyrics and artistic opinions.

Coming from Daly City, CA is a Filipino rock-metal band MONKEY PUNCH,pounding their way from the underground music scene. MONKEY PUNCH delivered a powerful rock-metal music that deserves to be respected in the underground music industry, with their double-kick bass at a chimpanzee pace, gorilla growls, harmonious orangutan rhythms, and rocking like Tarzan that knocked-out the entire hall.

Another band from the wine valley of Napa, CA, is a crunchy indie rock band,THE HELEN KELLERS, a three-of-a-kind talented musketeers. See no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil. THE HELEN KELLERS were indeed a very talented band with high-induced adrenaline music that deserves a bottle of champagne on their unspoken revolutionary music.

From San Francisco, CA arises a Filipino rock band ANGELUS rocking with their melodic tunes with the intense combination of flora & fauna, creating a majestic relationship with God that unites all creation. ANGELUS is a champion in the hallmarks of life that soars and gives hope to the rock of the Earth.

And I, THE GUITAR SAINT, THE PATRON SAINT OF CAMELOT,, played my original song "Don't talk about leaving" with my splendid 7-strings Ibanez electric guitar, producing unlimited decibels, high pitched octaves and chromatic dragon-volcanic scales at enormous speed that's as hard as a tortoise shell, rocking like an energizer bunny and roaring like a thunderous lion, with the endurance of a camel, strength of an elephant and the stamina of a horse that could withstand any tidal wave.

I, as a kid, admired Roman Catholic Saints like St. John Bosco, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Lorenzo Ruiz, St. Martin de Porres, St. Dominic Savio and many more.
I believe in Peace, Justice and Freedom, and I believe that Love and Passion is a universal gift that unites all mankind.
